WE ARE DIFFERENT
WHAT SETS US APART
Our Mission, Philosophy, and Culture set us apart from every other school in the region.
OUR PURPOSE
OUR MISSION
Produce independent, lifelong learners who are responsible, contributing members of a diverse global society. Here’s what this means for your child…
Independent – Woodlawn students learn to think for themselves. They learn to navigate the world around them guided by a strong moral compass and a deep set of convictions.
Lifelong Learners – Joyful learners! Woodlawn students never lose their natural love of learning. They develop superior “learn how to learn” skills and a healthy respect for positive, constructive failure. They learn to choose a bright, positive, optimistic emotional response to change. All these things are essential ingredient to developing a growth mindset.
Contributing Members of a Diverse Global Society – Woodlawn students embrace the world in all its challenges and complexities, and they celebrate its differences.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
OUR PHILOSOPHY
We believe learning thrives in an environment where students develop critical thinking skills, pursue their curiosities with passion, and embrace the power of sustained effort.
We empower our students’ personal growth by nurturing their creative spirit, developing their leadership capabilities, and celebrating their unique identities and voices.
We cultivate social responsibility by guiding students to seek out diverse perspectives, forge authentic connections, and build a community grounded in compassion and mutual respect.
Our commitment to environment sustainability runs deep – through both curriculum and culture – inspiring students to become thoughtful stewards of our planet and its precious resources.
Together, these foundational values create an educational experience that prepares students not just for academic success, but for lives of purpose, impact, and meaningful contribution to our ever changing world.
“My life at Woodlawn is central to my identity, and I wouldn’t be the same had it not been for this small community where teachers and classmates become a second family. Woodlawn is unique. Where else would you find students playing basketball in a gym designed to look like a traditional red barn or see middle schoolers studying about plants in the campus gardens? As students and teachers, we are athletes, artists, musicians, and much more. Sometimes a bit quirky – one friend created a business designing bow ties and a favorite teacher, a former Apple executive, enjoys flying his drone around campus.”
