Week of July 18-22 | 9am-4pm | Cost: $349
We strongly believe in learning with real code. Young coders are often taught pseudo-code, which they often master very quickly. The problem is though that it doesn’t prepare them enough for the jump to a real programming language and text-based code, so a lot of coders stop there. We will use the sand box game of Minecraft to transition from drag and drop to typing real code. The mysteries of real code is unraveled here for kids.

What better place to explore than nature that is right outside our door? Campers will not only learn about this amazing planet we live on but also learn how we can help keep it beautiful and healthy! They’ll be arborists as they learn about different kinds of trees and even plant a pine tree.
Next, they’ll become entomologists as they do activities and experiments related to spiders, butterflies, and other insects. They’ll discover that although sometimes insects may appear scary or frightening, they actually aren’t and even help us! Campers will explore the organisms and habitats of different ecosystems and learn ways to take care of the planet we live on. They’ll also learn about the “three Rs”: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

One of the great features of this camp is that all campers will create (and take home!) a movie using techniques in Claymation and Stop-Motion Animation. Lessons include plot development, story boarding, set building, filming, and sound effects.
Campers will also learn various special effects make-up techniques working with the same materials used by professional make-up artists. They will simulate cuts, bruises, artificial blood, and old age. Is there a future movie director living in your house? This is a camp your child won’t want to miss!
Please have your moviemaker bring a 4G Flash Drive to camp to save their movie.
