What is your dream for Woodlawn?
For the students at Woodlawn to be able to pursue their passions extensively. I hope that Woodlawn becomes an environment where all students are able to experience new things. Last year, there was a large group of students that wanted to play Men’s volleyball. There wasn’t a team, but we were able to work with the teachers and start Woodlawn’s Men’s volleyball team. Now, we are heading into our second season with even more people that want to play volleyball. If Woodlawn continues to be an environment that encourages students to step out of their comfort and pursue their passions, the possibilities are endless.
What will you remember most about being a student at Woodlawn?
The connection I had with others. I’ve only been at Woodlawn for a couple of years, but I’ve been able to build strong relationships with my peers. This is because of how welcoming and friendly the environment is. The students at Woodlawn are caring and hardworking individuals. Their attitude toward the world around them inspires me to be a better version of myself.
What is your favorite memory of your Senior year?
I think it is literally impossible to pick one because there are so many to choose from. I can definitely narrow it down to the many times where I was laughing so hard that I couldn’t talk for a while. Those moments where the room erupted with laughter are by far my favorite simply because of how much fun everyone was having. When you’re in an environment like that, it’s impossible to not smile and laugh.
What will you miss most about Woodlawn?
The teachers are the aspect of Woodlawn that I will miss the most. All of them have a genuine compassion for teaching and that reflects in their classrooms. The teachers invoke a better environment for teaching through their attitudes and thoughtfulness. Their ability to build connections through teaching is extremely helpful as I believe that learning comes much easier when it’s taught by someone who genuinely cares.
What are you looking forward to as you start this exciting next chapter of your life?
I am excited to try new things, play new sports, meet new people, try new food, and live in a different environment. I believe that this new chapter in my life will invoke change whether I like it or not, and that will provide me with exciting new experiences and memories. I’m excited to step out of my comfort zone and enjoy the challenges that come with it.
