SUMMARY:Class of 2024 Commencement Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Commencement Day: Celebrating the Class of 2024\nDear Woodlawn Community\, \nBelow you’ll find details about Thursday\, June 6th\, our last day of school. We hope you all plan to attend our 15th Commencement Ceremony at 9:00 AM on the Stinson front lawn. This is a big day for all students and the long-awaited reveal of the 2023-2024 yearbook! \nMorning Drop-off* 8:00-8:30 AM (*Stinson Drive closes at 8:30)\nCommencement Ceremony 9:00 AM (Front Lawn of Stinson)\nYearbook Pick-up for US and MS Students: 10:15 AM\nYearbook Signing 10:20 AM – 11:00 AM\nStudent Dismissal 11:00 AM \nIf You Are Attending With Your Child(ren)\nIf you are planning to attend the commencement ceremony with your child(ren) on the morning of June 6th\, you should be seated on the front lawn of Stinson Hall by 8:45 AM. Your student does not need to come to their classroom if they are arriving with you as we expect they will sit with you. There are no assigned seats for students in grades 1-8. There is a reserved section for upper school students and we ask that students in grades 9-11 sit in that designated area. We would like everyone to be seated by 8:55 AM. The ceremony will begin promptly at 9:00 AM and we anticipate that it will last 75 minutes. \nYearbooks: Upper & Middle School students will pick up their yearbooks by the swings outside of Stinson after the commencement ceremony. K-5 students will pick up their yearbooks in their classrooms. The day ends at 11:00 AM for all students. \nLower School Students Attending Without Parents\nIf you are unable to attend the ceremony\, you can drop off your student that morning between 8:00 – 8:30 AM. The Stinson driveway will be open until 8:30 AM\, but will then be closed to prepare for the ceremony. Students should report to their classrooms. Teachers will be in the classrooms until 8:30 and then volunteers will provide supervision. Our volunteers will escort the children to their seats and sit with them through the ceremony. The lower school teachers will resume supervision of their students immediately after the ceremony. All students will need to be picked up by 11:00 AM. Teachers will bring students to the Stinson Hall car loop for dismissal. \nYearbook Distribution – If you paid for a yearbook\, LS students can pick it up immediately after the ceremony in their classroom; MS and US students can pick up their copy by the swings after the ceremony. Yearbook signing is a fun\, sprawling campus event on the last day of school – bring a pen or marker! Students will have the opportunity to get their yearbooks signed by their friends from 10:15 AM – 11:00 AM. \nParking – Upper school students will be assisting with parking that morning – look out for them to guide you upon arrival. The Stinson car loop will be open until 8:30 AM\, and then will close as commencement is on the front lawn of Stinson. The lower lot adjacent to the track is open and will have the most spaces available. The ceremony will begin promptly at 9:00 AM\, so please arrive early. \nDress Code – Students may wear open-toed shoes (sandals)\, but must otherwise adhere to the dress code. Students are asked to dress appropriately for the ceremonial occasion and refrain from strapless tops\, spaghetti straps\, short skirts\, offensive messages\, ripped clothing\, athletic wear\, etc. \nRSVP- Families\, please email your teacher to let them know if your child will be attending with you\, attending school as usual\, or not attending. We need to know this information in order to have the appropriate amount of volunteers. Let your teacher know by Friday\, May 24th. \nInterested in Volunteering?- If you are interested in volunteering with supervision for a Lower School classroom starting at 8:30 and through the ceremony\, please let your teacher know. All volunteers must be willing to submit a background check. Let your teacher know if you are interested no later than Friday\, May 24th.
