Middle School XC Boys Take Championship Title; Girls Earn Runner-Up
The Middle School harriers concluded their season at the Conference Championship Meet at Christ the King School Tuesday, Oct. 13th. After battling their conference rival, St. Mark, all fall, the Blazers came out on top when it mattered most.
Running the strongest they’ve run all year, the boys stunned the crowd when Joey C. and Jesse J. delivered a 1-2 punch capturing the top two places in the boys race and earning all-conference honors. Not far behind were Jackson M., Jack B., and Kurt M. who put Woodlawn in a position where no other team could come close.
Like the boys, the girls’ team effort was equally impressive. Leading the way for the Green was Dina C. with a fourth place finish. What happened next was one of the historical Woodlawn moments we like to refer to as the “sea of green” — a pack a Woodlawn crossed the line in 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 13! Never before have we had such a front pack of runners who could run together the entire two mile race.
Following the races, the Blazers walked away with two trophies and two all-conference medals in the awards ceremony. It was a great day to be a Trailblazer harrier!
