Schneider Takes 1st Place, Four PRs set at Cannon Invitational
Sept. 10, 2016 – Woodlawn’s runners traveled to Concord to participate in the Cannon Invitational for the tenth consecutive year. For the first time ever, a Trailblazer took the top spot on the podium, as senior Quinn Schneider destroyed the final mile of the course and pulled away for the win over a field of 293 high school boys. Quinn’s time of 16:26 is the 3rd-fastest time ever recorded in the 18-year history of the race. Season-best performances by Tripp Berini, Josh Earle, and JT Faccone, in addition to a personal record from James Gartner, gave the Trailblazers a team score of 349, good for 12th place in the boys division of the meet.
Our girls recorded another Trailblazer milestone as they placed in the team standings for the first time in this race (at least 5 runners must finish to qualify for a team score). Anne Cunningham paced the girls team, along with a season best from Ally Fleming and personal records by Emmy Belloni and Claire Stutzman.
