Woodlawn Boys and Girls Both Finish on Top at the SPAA Conference Championship

Oct. 19, 2015 – Five of the eight SPAA Conference schools sent teams to the SPAA Championship Meet on a perfect autumn day at McAlpine Park in Charlotte. Quinn Schneider easily outran the entire boys field while lowering his personal record for the second race in a row. He was joined by five more Trailblazers who set PRs, resulting in a dominating team performance and the boys’ second SPAA championship title in as many years. On the girls side, Bella Jacoby and Anne Cunningham ran stride for stride, pulling away from the competition in the final 600 meters to place first and second individually, both in personal record times. Woodlawn’s third runner, Ally Fleming, also ran a personal best, enabling the Trailblazers to stun the field with a 1st place team finish – Woodlawn’s first-ever girls conference title in varsity cross country. Woodlawn travels to McAlpine Park again on Oct. 30 for the NCISAA 1A State Championship Meet.
