August 29: Woodlawn vs Round Robin Tournament

The Varsity Volleyball team traveled to North Hills Christian School on Saturday, August 29th for a round robin tournament. The team played four other schools in two quick sets to 11 points to configure seeding for the tournament. After eight sets, the team finished fourth in pool with a record of 3-5. Strong serving runs from junior, Amelia W. and senior, Natalie B, set the Blazers up for success early on the day. Freshmen, Abigail W. led the team later on in the day with setting after an injury to senior, Natalie B., kept her from setting. Abigail, along with fellow freshmen Morgan K. and Emma M., played hard in the afternoon bracket play to push the Blazers into the semi-final match against the #1 seed. The team came out slow in the semi-final match against the Cabarrus Stallions. However, aggressive net play and consistent serving from junior, Abigail W. helped the Blazers catch back up to a 12-12 tie. Unfortunately, we lost steam and dropped the first set 17-25. Moving into the second set, the team came out strong with a 5-1 lead early. With valiant efforts from our freshmen and sophomore we were able to hold strong throughout the match. Defensive plays from senior, Natalie B. kept the team alive, but again, we fell short at the end (18-25). Overall, the team finished third in the tournament with senior, Natalie B. and junior, Amelia W. earning All-Tournament Honors.
