August 25: Woodlawn vs Stuart Cramer

Last night the Varsity Volleyball team kicked of the 2015 season against Stuart Cramer High School in Belmont. The team showed consistency in the warm-up, however, nerves got the better of them in the first two sets. The combination of jitters and missed serves gave way to a quick 0-2 deficit. However, the team showed up more confident in set three with 6 aces and 4 blocks. Working together, the team surged passed their opponent in the final moments giving the Varsity Volleyball team their first win of the season, 25-23. Unfortunately, we couldn’t keep the momentum going and dropped the fourth set 16-25. Although we came away with a loss, the team racked up 10 aces, 25 kills and 41 digs in our inaugural showing. Juniors, Rachel N. and Amelia W., contributed five aces and 10 kills respectively. Natalie B., our lone senior, earned 8 points through kills and blocks. And lastly, freshmen, Morgan K. and sophomore, Zoey M., didn’t miss a single serve last night! Shout out to our parents, fellow students and teachers who made the drive out to Belmont to cheer us on- we appreciate you! It was a great season opener for the Blazers and we look forward to traveling to North Hills Christian this Saturday for a first tournament. Go Blazers!
