To use a somewhat tired cliché, this was a bit of a Cinderella season for the Lady Blazers. Much of the first half of the season was played with just 6 players; which included one Senior, Morgan Klein, no Juniors, and two Seventh Graders. They started off with losses to a strong Christ the King team and The Burlington School. Next, they faced another formidable opponent, Arborbrook, at home, taking them to four sets, and effectively losing the match by a total of four points. This was arguably their best-played match of the entire season. They won three of the next four matches and ended the regular season with a respectable 5-3 league record, their only losses being to the 2A schools in the conference. Overall, they finished 8-7, and drew a bid to the State Playoffs, seeded 8th going in. After cruising past Neuse in the first round, their run was cut short by eventual State Champs Kerr Vance Academy, who entered the tournament with a record of 23-0. Woodlawn wound up 5th Place in the State in the NCISAA 1A Division! Congratulations are due to Co-Captains Morgan Klein and Arielle Trovato for being selected to the All-Conference Team.
