The ideal candidate is a nurturing and responsive classroom leader, who models lifelong learning and is passionate about teaching young lower-school students. - A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, or a related field; a master’s in education preferred

Experienced School Counselor

Woodlawn School is seeking an experienced full-time School Counselor to join our extraordinary and dynamic team for the 2024-2025 academic year. The ideal candidate will address the personal, social, and academic needs of our students PK-12 through individual counseling, facilitating peer mediations, and small group lessons. The counselor will work collaboratively with others to students and faculty, and adhere to the professional and ethical standards of the American School Counselor Association. The ideal candidate will have a MA, MEd, and/or Specialist in School Counseling/Psychology, experience in school setting and be passionate about project-based learning and cognitive learning sciences. The ability to teach courses such as Environmental Studies and/or Anatomy & Physiology would be an additional asset. Our campus features 9 buildings; 61 acres of woods and fields; gardens; outdoor classrooms; and a challenge course supporting our special emphasis on healthy, outdoor activities – 55 minutes of recess every day, for everyone! SETTING THE FOUNDATION
OUR FOUNDING
Founded in 2002, Woodlawn first began with just seven students and two small buildings and opened its doors for the first time in the fall of that year. Just two years later, 70 students were enrolled and Woodlawn had already established a reputation as a place where high academic standards led to independent, lifelong learning.
