Collaborative Sand Art
In the words of the 8th grade artists: "We were studying the art and design of American Indians, and gained appreciation for their resourcefulness and ingenuity. We chose to work in a collaborative group and applied what we learned about American Indian sand paintings to our own art piece. Because it took a lot of cooperation and time to create, this piece was all about the process and not necessarily the final product. We followed American Indian tradition by making it out of sand and by making it a temporary piece, but we broke away from tradition by making our sand art for the public to enjoy rather than for spiritual or healing purposes.” -Zoe, Ginger, Micah, Jack, and Gabby
