From Woodlawn,
‘Blazers go
everywhere.
Woodlawn’s college counseling program is built around the individual student, not a ranking list. Every ‘Blazer works with Katie Brewer from 9th Grade forward to build an application that reflects who they are and what they have actually done.
A counselor who knows
your student, not just their transcript.
College counseling at Woodlawn begins in 9th Grade and runs through graduation. The process is personal, unhurried, and designed around each student’s unique combination of academics, Pathway of Purpose, and the story their four years of Woodlawn work has built.
Early + Intentional
The college counseling process starts in 9th Grade with Foundations, the 9th and 10th Grade seminar. Students begin identifying strengths, interests, and potential directions years before applications are due, so when the time comes, the story is already written.
Fit Over Ranking
Katie Brewer works with each ‘Blazer to find colleges that fit who they are, not just who has the highest rankings. The result is students who arrive at college genuinely ready for what that institution offers.
The Senior Capstone Advantage
Every Woodlawn senior arrives at applications with a Senior Capstone Question that leads to original research, a mentorship relationship, and a presentation to a panel of community experts. That is a story admissions offices do not see from most applicants.
College prep starts
the day a student arrives.
At Woodlawn, preparing for college is not a senior-year scramble. It runs through two seminar programs: Foundations in 9th and 10th Grade, and Futures in 11th and 12th. Both are woven into the academic program, advisory, and the Pathways of Purpose framework. By the time a ‘Blazer sits down to write a first application essay, they know who they are and what they have to say.
The documentation.
The destinations.
Woodlawn’s college counseling program is supported by a complete set of documentation and outcome data for families, students, and college admissions officers.
College Profile
Woodlawn’s College Profile provides admissions offices with a full picture of our school: curriculum, grading philosophy, the unweighted 4.0 GPA scale, middle 50% GPA range, AP offerings, and the outcomes every graduate demonstrates. Every ‘Blazer’s application is accompanied by a profile that explains what a Woodlawn education produces and why it is different from what most schools offer.
View College Profile →Matriculations
Woodlawn graduates attend selective colleges and universities across the country and internationally. From Ivy League institutions and highly ranked liberal arts colleges to specialized arts, engineering, and sciences programs, the matriculation list reflects the full range of who ‘Blazers are. One hundred percent college acceptance, year after year, at institutions that recognize the depth of what a Woodlawn education produces.
