The Senior Capstone is the defining experience of Upper School at Woodlawn. One student. One question. Nine months of original, field-based research with a community mentor. This is what it looks like from inside.

[Opening paragraph. Start in the middle of the work, not at the beginning. Name the specific question the student chose and why it mattered to them. What was the moment they knew this was the question they needed to spend a year with?]

[Second paragraph: The Inquiry stage. How did the student narrow from a broad interest to a specific, answerable question? What did they not know yet that the year would teach them?]

Finding a Mentor

[Third paragraph: The Immersion stage. Who is the mentor, and what do they do? How did the student find them? What did working with a real practitioner add to the research that no classroom could have provided?]

The Presentation

[Fourth paragraph: The Impact stage. What did the student present, to whom, and in what format? What happened when the year of work met a real audience? What did they learn about their own question from having to explain it publicly?]
