The Alumni Track, The Barn, the NCAA-sized soccer field, and nearly two miles of wooded running trails were all built through the generosity of Woodlawn families and alumni.
More than a gym.
The Barn.
The Barn is Woodlawn’s gymnasium, home to basketball and volleyball, and one of the best competition venues for a 1A school anywhere in North Carolina. Construction began in May 2007 and was completed in August 2008 as part of Woodlawn’s first capital campaign.
In the summer of 2022, The Barn’s floor was upgraded with funds from a generous anonymous donor. The Barn now features a high-tech suspended hardwood maple floor, the same surface used in NBA and premier NCAA arenas. Athletes start faster, jump higher, and land with minimal impact, better performance, reduced fatigue, and fewer injuries.
Alumni Field.
A Track Built to compete.
The Alumni Track and Field complex was built in 2015–16 and funded through Woodlawn’s third capital campaign, which raised over $1M. The track features a certified 400-meter, 8-lane surface with synthetic multi-layered polyurethane construction, enclosing a regulation NCAA-sized soccer and lacrosse field.

Located inside the oval of the Alumni Track is the school’s NCAA-sized, natural turf soccer field with irrigation. The combination of a regulation soccer field inside a regulation track means Woodlawn hosts varsity competition on one of the best home venues in 1A.
Both boys and girls varsity soccer teams practice and host all home games on Alumni Field. Middle school students use the Quad in the middle of campus for soccer and other field sports.

Woodlawn’s cross country program was born on the wooded paths that wind through the 61-acre campus. Nearly two miles of trail give runners a true home course, and give every division a place to train, compete, and explore the outdoors.

Alumni Track
Certified 400M 8-lane synthetic track. Full field event facilities. Built 2015–16. 90% alumni-funded.

NCAA-sized natural turf soccer field with irrigation, located inside the track oval. Home to boys and girls soccer.

Nearly two miles of wooded running trail winding through the 61-acre campus. The home course for cross country.
