“Think Outside the Quad” — 2010 Capital Campaign
In March, 2010, Woodlawn announced its second capital campaign with the goal of funding two new buildings, Van Buren Hall and the Lodge. We broke ground on the project in May, and the buildings were completed in October, 2010.
During the course of this capital campaign, we completed a series of improvements, all of which were designed to be compatible with the existing facilities on Woodlawn’s campus, including the 175-year-old Stinson Hall. Donors were asked to make pledges toward the campaign to be fulfilled over the following 3 years. This project included:
- a multi-purpose building designed to host small performances, portfolio viewings, music/drama rehearsals, student lunches, and cooking classes
- a classroom building housing two general-purpose classrooms and two visual arts classrooms
- a natural stone patio with outdoor fireplace connecting the two buildings
- renovation of the Carriage House to accommodate a Kindergarten class
- renovations to our existing soccer field, adding irrigation, turf, and stone seating
- a natural stone amphitheater overlooking one end of the soccer field
- additional parking
