Middle School XC Girls End Season On Top; Boys Take Third

The Middle School cross country teams completed their 2018 season with strong performances on both the boys and girls side. As predicted, the girls went into the meet and swept the team event scoring a perfect six points. Maggie B. slipped into third early in the race and held on to that place earning her the team’s only All-Conference medal. One the boys side, Spencer W. and Sajan P. made a push late in the race and moved up in the pack to grab 6th and 9th. Mark C. rounded out Woodlawn’s scoring with his 11th place finish in the Championship meet.

The harriers ended their season with the 12th annual Wink and Survivor Race ceremony held on the campus trails, as usual. Special recognition was made to Mark C. and Saiya P. for earning the Golden Banana jacket — they both had the largest percentage drop in their mile time from start to end of the season. Spencer W. and Amelia A. grabbed the Most Valuable Runner awards while Russell J. and Maggie B. took Rookie of the Year.

Looking ahead to next year things appear to be promising. We only have one MS runner moving onto varsity and we expect our young team to continue to grow.
