Varsity Track & Field at NCISAA 1A/2A Championship (at Campbell University)

This 2-day meet featured over thirty 1A and 2A schools – we experienced some very hot weather and also some scorching performances from Woodlawn athletes. Here are the highlights:

Our boys scored 55 points, good for 3rd place in the team standings (1st among 1A schools).
– Quinn Schneider successfully defended his 3200m state title by demolishing the field with a 6th-lap surge. He then returned the next day to win both the 1600m and 800m runs, scoring a team-high 30 points for the meet. His 800m time was a personal record and only 1 second off the school record.
– Jake Johnson broke his own school record and placed 2nd in the long jump. He came back on day two to place 3rd in the 200m and 6th in the 100m races, racking up 17 individual points for the meet.
– Jake joined Tripp Berini, RJ Klein, and Ethan Mason in an epic 4x400m relay to take 3rd place (6 points) with a blistering school record time.
– Zach Lorch broke his own school record in the 300m hurdles to place 9th. He also placed 8th in the 110m hurdles, breaking his own school record in the prelims of that event.
– The 4x800m team of Ethan Mason, Jackson McGeough, Austen Castellano, and Tripp Berini placed 8th with a new school record.

Our girls scored 34.5 points, good for 7th place in the team standings (2nd among 1A schools).
– Hadley Zucker soared over the pole vault bar at 10’0″ to win the event and score 10 points.
– Megan Dailey broke her own school record in the 100m dash, placing 4th. She also placed 4th in the long jump to match Hadley with a team-high 10 individual points for the meet.
– Megan joined Carmen Lolla, Madison Berini, and Ally Fleming in the 4x100m relay to take 6th place.
– Natalie Boyle tied for 4th in the high jump.
– The 4x400m team of Ally, Madison, Natalie, and Zoe Milburn annihilated the school record and finished 5th.
– Madison picked up another point by placing 8th in the long jump.
– Gabby Polsky placed 7th in the discus.
