Boys Three-Peat as SPAA Champs; Girls Place 5th

Oct. 20, 2016 – On an unusually warm day for late October, our runners returned to Southside Park for the SPAA Championship meet. Our boys entered as the favorites to win the team competition, and did not disappoint. Despite an injury to #3 runner Tripp Berini, Woodlawn placed 4 runners in the top 10 places to take the team trophy for the 3rd straight year. Captain Quinn Schneider ran a sizzling 4:59 over the final mile to finish in 15:54 and win the individual title for the third consecutive year. Fellow seniors Zach Lorch and Austen Castellano joined Quinn on the podium by finishing 3rd and 10th respectively – both earned All-Conference honors for the second straight year. The surprise of the boys race was 8th grader Jackson McGeough, who ran a PR 19:25 to place 6th and take home an All-Conference medal as well. Other notable performances included big PRs from Ethan Mason and JT Faccone.

On the girls side, captain Ally Fleming posted a huge personal record to finish in the 8th position and earn All-Conference honors for the second straight year. Teammates Emma McGeough and Claire Stutzman also posted PRs.
