Dear Woodlawn Families and Friends,

Please allow me to take a moment to celebrate you — the Woodlawn School families, faculty and staff, alumni and alumni parents — who have helped us rise to the 2015-2016 Woodlawn Annual Fund challenge!

You’ll remember: in mid-May, an anonymous family offered a gift of $10,000 to the 2015-2016 Woodlawn Annual Fund if we could secure $40,000 in gifts before graduation. I’m delighted to announce our challenge success! Thank you for helping us rise to the challenge.

I spoke with the Woodlawn parent who made the gift that put us “over the top,” and asked what compelled his generosity. He said their family made their gift in honor of my tenure as Interim Head (and I am humbled), to help demonstrate their support for Incoming Head Adam Schapiro, and to help celebrate their children’s happiness at Woodlawn School.

I now have a personal request: if you have not yet made a gift to the 2015-2016 Woodlawn Annual Fund, I invite you to join me in doing so. As of today, 63.5% of our families have joined this community effort. Surely you’d like to be counted, as well! I would like for every Woodlawn family to participate, for two reasons:

• It’s important to demonstrate to Adam that our families are entirely supportive of Woodlawn’s mission and vision.
• As we continue to raise funds for future projects, we will seek gifts from donors outside of the Woodlawn family, and we must be able to demonstrate that our families are strongly invested in our efforts.

A gift to the Annual Fund is the single best way to demonstrate your support. Please join me in making a gift today.

With gratitude,

J. Robert Shirley, Ph.D.
Interim Head of School
