2018 NCISAA 1A/2A Championship Meet Preview

Our Woodlawn boys and girls track teams will be sending a strong contingent of athletes to the NCISAA 1A/2A State Championships at Campbell University on Friday and Saturday, May 18-19. They will be aiming for a similar result to last season, when the boys finished first among 1A teams and the girls finished second among 1A teams.

On the boys side, the Trailblazers’ best chances to score will be in the 800m run, where senior Tripp Berini is ranked #5, as well as in the 400m dash, where 8th grader RJ Klein and sophomore Jesse Jacobson are both ranked in the top eight. Both the boys 4x200m relay and the 4x400m relay are also ranked in the top eight.

For the girls, junior Megan Dailey comes in as the favorite to win the triple jump, and she is also expected to be a strong contender for individual honors in both the long jump and 100m dash. Freshman Natalie Boyle is ranked #5 in the high jump, and the girls 4x100m relay and 4x800m relay also have a good chance of placing in the top eight.

Results will be posted after the meet concludes on Saturday night.
